Active Living - Active Aging Week - Connect with Respect Contest
REGISTER & Be Eligible for up to $300.00 in Program Support

ALCOA-MB, once again is encouraging groups, organizations and individuals throughout Manitoba to create, facilitate and participate in activities and events that effectively engage older adults and provide them with a positive active aging experience.  Starting with Active Aging Week (September 24 – 30, 2017) and throughout Seniors’ & Elders’ Month (entire month of October, 2017) ALCOA-MB will be receiving community event registrations and will be
posting them on the ALCOA-MB website to share great ways to involve older adults in healthy active aging events and activities.

The “Connect with Respect” promotion is all about preventing social isolation of older adults, which can have a devastating effect on their physical and mental health. The benefits of socially engaging older adults include motivation (a reason to participate), inspiration (a spark of interest and excitement) and sense of belonging (feeling that you are welcome, accepted and respected). So Manitoba – Let’s “Connect with Respect”

Plan and register your “Connect with Respect” event to help older adults in your community “ignite their passion” and share their experiences, skills, talents and stories with others.

Register your “Connect with Respect” event and be eligible for up to $300.00 to support local older adult programs. The “Connect with Respect” program support will be awarded to Manitoba Community Groups/Organizations, who best exemplify programs, activities or events that meaningfully involve older adults and create opportunities for ongoing social engagement. The entry deadline is Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Registration forms are available on the ALCOA-MB website: or by contacting the ALCOA-MB office by email: or phone: 204-632-3947 or toll-free: 1-866-202-6663.
